Mission:
BCA exists to creatively inspire gifted students
to realize their full potential.

Vision:
Building bridges among gifted students,
parents, teachers and community.

Commitment to Purpose
A commitment to incorporating BCA’s mission, vision and values into organizational decisions and behaviors. The ability and willingness to align one’s own behavior with the needs, priorities, and goals of BCA. BCA’s values include: excellence, compassion, integrity, discipline, communication, innovation, and humor.

Continuous Improvement
A concern for working well or for surpassing a standard of excellence. The standard may be one’s own past performance (striving for improvement); an objective measure (results orientation); outperforming others (benchmarking); challenging goals one has set, or even what anyone has ever done (innovation).

Service Excellence Orientation
Focusing one’s conversation and efforts on discovering, meeting and advocating the students’ needs.

Innovative Thinking
To continually improve performance by taking a novel approach to how work is done, or how problems are approached within the organization (thinking outside the box, developing unique solutions to problems, applying relevant concepts and ideas from outside the area, organization or academia)

Teamwork and Cooperation
The intention to work collaboratively with others, to be part of or to work as a team, to work together and respect and value diversity as opposed to working separately or competitively.

Problem Solving
The ability to understand a situation by breaking it apart into smaller pieces, or tracing the implications in a step-by-step way. Problem solving includes the ability to identify patterns or connections between situations that are not obviously related, and to identify key or underlying issues in complex situations. It also involves translating complex or creative plans into workable solutions
.

Initiative
The identification of a problem, obstacle, or opportunity and taking action in light of this identification to address current or future problems or opportunities. At higher levels, demonstrates persistence in pursuing goals, despite obstacles and setbacks. Initiative should be seen in the context of proactively doing things and not simply thinking about future actions.

Positive Presence
The ability to act calmly and patiently when working under pressure and/or conditions of stress. It also includes the ability to maintain stamina under continuing stress.
